Maths Café

Supporting your role as a personal tutor

If your tutee needs extra support with any maths specific issue then you can signpost them to the Maths Café. Maths Café provides free help, support and advice with Mathematics and Statistics-related issues and our tutors will always do their best to help your tutee with their mathematical issue, whatever their course of study.

Our main approach is via our drop-in sessions. These run on a daily basis throughout term-time and also in the run-up to the exams. There is no need to make an appointment – your tutee can just turn up. However, to help the tutors support your tutee effectively, they should take notes or any other materials that are associated with their query. Maths Café also offers:

  • Workshops that focus on selected topics. Explanations are followed by plenty of exercises and tutors are on hand throughout to work with you through the material.
  • The Maths Café Moodle page contains online resources covering a wide range of topics. These resources provide explanations and worked examples, and can be accessed at any time.
  • Maths Café also has games and puzzles that are entertaining but which also stretch mathematical, logical and strategical thinking skills. More information is available in our Lion Gate location.
  • We can let your tutee know when free online courses are available. They can follow our Facebook page to receive updates instantly.
