Housing difficulties
Supporting your role as a personal tutor
We support and advise students who live in halls and in private accommodation (with or without a resident landlord) so if your tutee identifies housing issues during a tutorial, please encourage them to come to see us for support and guidance.
We are unable to discuss individual student's situations with you unless they have given permission, as we treat all information we hold confidentially.
We offer the following services:
- Student Support Managers for all first years in Halls and the private sector, for further information and contact details go here.
- Advice and guidance on all aspects of private renting, ranging from Contracts to Pest control to Repairs. Signposting to legal advice is also available if the matter requires more specialist attention.
- Student and neighbour liaison advice and guidance.
- Studentpad an online search service that allows students to find student houses, flats and lodgings listed across the city of Portsmouth that are officially registered with the University of Portsmouth Student Housing Team.
The Students’ Union Information and Advice Centre also support students in private housing. See their website: www.upsu.net/advice/housing
