Student IT Help Centre

Supporting your role as a personal tutor

If your tutee is experiencing general University-related problems with IT you can signpost them to the Student IT Help Centre. No appointment is necessary and we have a waiting area as well as laptop benches so they can still work whilst waiting for assistance. We offer assistance with a range of IT queries, such as:

  • Connecting to the University Wireless and ResNet networks
  • IS open access areas and shared teaching spaces
  • Using your University computer account
  • Email
  • Papercut printing
  • Basic virus removal guidance
  • University related IT services
  • New and replacement/re-issue of your student campus card
  • Advice on how to obtain local discounted repairs to damaged hardware or corrupted operating systems

Outside core University hours (8.00am - 5.15pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 4.30pm on Friday), we offer limited IT support, via our out of hours team, available from 5.00pm - 8.00am during the week and 24 hours a day during weekends and bank holidays. Support during these times can be obtained by telephoning the normal Service Desk number above. Support provided includes:

  • Password changes
  • Moodle access
  • Portal access
  • Wireless connectivity
  • Remote file access
  • Anti-virus

If your tutee’s concern is to do with specific software or hardware relevant to their course then signpost them CCI Creative skills.
