CCI – Creative Careers

Supporting your role as a personal tutor

Creative Careers supports students in finding, applying for and securing a range of opportunities:

  • Sandwich year placements
  • Self-Employed placement years
  • Summer internships
  • Short-term work experience
  • Freelancing (short-term client projects/briefs)
  • Volunteering
  • Relevant part-time work

If your tutee wants to gain relevant work-experience in the creative industries (curriculum or extra-curriculum) during the year or the summer, or wants to learn more about the Placement Year option, please refer them to Creative Careers.

Creative Careers also provides training and support to personal tutors with placement visits’ responsibilities.

Who can use Creative Careers?

All CCI students can benefit from working with Creative Careers:

  • Level 4 – It's time for your tutee to start thinking about their future career path and start building experience. We recommend students start by undertaking some voluntary work - this could be generic or specific to their career- and/or relevant work-experience in the creative industries. Students can access both on our work-experience database available on Moodle.
  • Level 5 – Your tutee will be clearer about what they want to do. They must register with Creative Careers via Moodle and upload their CV to start applying for Sandwich Year Placements (when applicable). The Creative Careers Team is here to offer students full support throughout the process. If they wish to build up their experience in the meantime, they can also have a look at the other range of opportunities available on the Work-Experience database to include SummerInternships, Relevant Work Experience and part-time work.
  • Level 6 – Your tutee is about to finish and hopefully they have attained the right level of experience to help them secure a Graduate level Job. Purple Door is the right department to refer students to start their Graduate Search and/or discussed post-graduate options. If L6 students wish to build up their experience in the meantime, they can also access the other range of opportunities available on the work-experience database to include Summer Internships, Relevant Work experience and part-time work.
  • Master's level – Same service level as L6.

Creative Careers also offers...

  • Support for students undertaking the Professional Experience Unit by approving all relevant paperwork.
  • CV checks and Interview Advice.
  • a range of Inspirational Talks with guest speakers from the creative industries, as part of our ‘Future You’ Programme of Events (mostly Wednesday afternoons, term-time only).
