Digital Learning Environment

Students and lecturers are making increasing use of digital tools for learning and teaching. The University provides two digital tools that most students will need to use at some time during their time at Portsmouth: Moodle (for course-related materials, quizzes and so on) and Turnitin (for submission of assignments and similarity checking; Turnitin is accessed via Moodle).

Occasionally students might be unable to access Moodle, or they might have queries about their Turnitin submissions. There are many reasons — technical, administrative, procedural — why a service such as Moodle or Turnitin might be unavailable to a student; similarly, concerns about Turnitin submissions can be wide-ranging.

Get in touch with IS Service Desk

If your tutee comes to you for advice about difficulties in accessing the digital learning environment you should guide them to the IS ServiceDesk (servicedesk@port.ac.uk; x7777). The ServiceDesk will issue a job ticket, so the student has a trackable record of their issue, and will then either resolve the issue directly or else forward the job to the relevant technical team.
